Crusader Kings II is a dynasty simulator, in which the player gets to control a Medieval dynasty during the period of 1066 to 1337, though the Charlemagne and DLC The Old Gods allow for earlier start dates of 769 and 867, along with 936 due to the update of the Iron Century. The player works to achieve success for their dynasty through the strategic use of marriages, assassinations, and war among multiple things. The game shows the player various historical figures, including Robert Guiscard, Ivar the Boneless, Harun al-Rashid, William the Conqueror, Charlemagne, Genghis Khan, Harold Godwinson, Robert the Bruce, Harald Hardrada, El Cid, Constantine X Doukas, Alexios I Komnenos, Richard the Lionheart, Alfred the Great, Saladin, and Baldwin I of Jerusalem. However, the game allows the player to choose less significant figures such as counts and minor dukes, and the creation of totally new characters with the help of the "Ruler Designer" DLC.
The player defines his success solely. The only in-game objective is obtaining as many piety points and prestige as possible to overcome the mentioned relevant European dynasties within fictional prestige ranking of the history (the three most prestigious ones include the Rurikid, the Habsburg, and the Capetian dynasties). Crusader Kings II ends when the player's current character is unable to continue with his life without an heir of the same dynasty to make him successful, when the game reaches its end in the year of 1453, or when all members of the player's dynasty (including themselves) all landed titles of the count rank or above.
About the in-game marriage, character’s traits and more
The game brings in an “education system and genetics”, which means the children will inherit many skills, religion, traits, and culture from their parents and guardian. Crusader Kings II adds a layer of strategy to marriages, as the player will attempt to form beneficial alliances, as well as to select marriage partners with strongly heritable traits that can maximize the quality of the children, therefore, strengthen the dynasty. However, this requires the player to balance the conflicting interests sometimes. For example, while one possible marriage might allow the player to form such a desirable alliance with a different ruler, the player may also have to marry a Spouse with some unwanted traits. On another hand, one possible spouse could have incredibly desirable traits but the marriage would form no new alliances for the player's dynasty.
Even when the player can pick any noble with at least one county in their possession to play as there are still some Government types that are unplayable in the default gameplay. These Government types require the player to mod the game to activate them.
The game’s fantastic mechanics
95% of the players feel satisfied with the graphics and sounds of Crusader Kings II. The game offers the HD graphics with the quality that equals to 1080p 60fps. In addition to that, the player will have the chance to experience the original soundtracks that can encourage his attitude, as well as entertain him through the up and down in the game.
Another plus point is for the physical movement, such as the player’s interaction with the game is super smooth. Thanks to the perfect operating system of the excellent production, Crusader Kings II provides the player with the most exciting mechanics ever!
Crusader Kings II is an amazing video game for anyone to try and have fun with. It’s the player’s honor to experience a legendary video game that has sold millions of copies worldwide, and managed to receive several awards! Check up on this game now!
