Serving an action role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim allows the player to play either a first or third-person perspective. The game enables the player to roam freely over the land of Skyrim. The wilderness expanses, dungeons, cities, towns, fortresses, and villages are all included in the open game world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. By utilizing a fast-travel system or by riding horses, the players may navigate the game world more quickly
Some quests in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim relies on the main storyline which is at least partially completed. After the first stage of the quest is finished, the game's main quest can be accomplished or ignored at the player's preference. The players can interact with the non-playable characters (NPCs) in various ways, such as communicating or even killing. However, the link between the interaction in the game world and the availability of the quests or items are quite clear, in case the players kill certain NPCs. The player cannot murder some NPCs that affect the later storylines.
The game rewards the player with a bounty if the crime of the player is witnessed. The bounty can help the players whenever a guard stops them or even when they happen to be in jail. Even more, the players can join the quests in each city and town of the game world, like farming or so.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim allows the players to develop their character, from head to toe. In the beginning, the players can pick their character's sex and race, then go on with the character's appearance customization. Even more, the players can improve their character's skills with up to eighteen skills scattered among three schools of combat, stealth, and magic. One character can level up when he/she has trained enough skills to meet the requirement.
The game world has various wildlife creatures for the players to encounter, and many of them are immediately hostile towards the players. However, the dragons are the kinds of creatures that will most likely to engage in serious combat with not only the players but also the NPCs. To gain more power and make an impact in the gameplay, the players can absorb the souls of the dragons and activate powerful spells.
